This looks like blossom end rot to me and is fairly common. It happens mostly during damp weather. I quite often leave them on the plants to mature and just cut off the bottom before eating. Some times the tomato will actually become half rotten and then it is compost.
Yep, that's blossoms end rot- I had a little on some tomatoes this year. Really simple to take care of (which I forgot this year ;). A simple calcium spray when they are young is good. Get a bottle of Yield Booster and follow directions it will take care of any more blossoms end rot. Happy gardening!
My grandmother, who just happens to be my next door neighbor, taught me to appreciate the little things like the sprouting of seedlings, a blooming flower, or discovering your first ripe tomato. I now have a passion for plants and gardening. I love sunflowers and veggies. There's nothing better than picking vegetables that you grew and cooking up something special.

ReplyDeleteOh, I thought that might be the problem, but I've never seen one this strange. Thanks for the info, Dan. It's very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit funny lookin' innit?
